Web site design briefEktron's CMS400 content management system was chosen as the most appropriate tool for Centriquip's web authoring requirements. WyeTec worked alongside Centriquip’s graphic design team to agree and implement a practical template for the new site that would fit well with the selected CMS. The content management system enables trade press releases to continue to be produced externally, 'checked in' for approval by management, be scheduled for publishing at pre-set times to coincide with releases via other media, and to effectively be 'served up' on the web site in a press-ready format for download by trade journalists. Using the CMS 400 system, the workflow and input of web site content is fully managed in a consistent and traceable manner, utilising a visible audit trail. A searchable database is easily populated with keywords to enable site visitors to find the information they require quickly, and even non-technical authors can insert page-specific meta tags, descriptions and title text to optimise search engine 'friendliness'. Items such as press releases can be input into the system at any time, and release and archive dates converted to automated tasks, thus ensuring timely delivery of new information to site visitors. The CMS is proving to be a valuable resource for Centriquip, providing a method by which multiple web authoring can be controlled effectively and enabling a growing and complex web site to be overseen and managed confidently by the site owners. |
