fieldwalking.org.uk is the web site of the Hinckley Field Walking Group, a Leicestershire-based
non-commercial group that investigates and interprets local archaeology and history.
The Group wanted a web site that attracted interest, was easy to navigate and importantly,
they could maintain themselves given some training in basic HTML.

A well-chosen domain name and a visually attractive home page - two foundations for a good web site
One fixed size and one scrollable text box allow flexibility of page content - great for extended copy!

What's in a name?
The group didn't have a domain name when they approached us to design the site for them,
so we provided a shortlist of suitable suggestions. On their behalf we acquired the
domain name fieldwalking.org.uk - a well-chosen name that describes perfectly their principal activity!
Providing the framework
As several group members are "web-aware", a fundamental requirement was that the group
would be able to maintain their own web site once the basic framework was in place. With this in mind, we crafted
the initial pages, commenting code as required to assist with future maintenance. We also created "template"
pages to enable future expansion of the site.
Accommodating extra body copy
There was a need to accommodate a considerable amount of body text into some pages.
Rather than simply allow the page to become overstretched, we embedded a scrollable text box to ensure that the
overall look of the pages remained consistent.
