Peak Cottage Plants first approached WyeTec requesting a simple web site that would be a basic list of plants from which prospective purchasers could choose before visiting the plant nursery to collect their plants. After careful consideration and with a better understanding of the client's needs, WyeTec staff suggested a more elegant solution utilising a more "three-dimensional" approach, based on a fully searchable and indexable central database of every plant Peak Cottage Plants has ever supplied and grown.

Multi-purpose database

The database thus created has formed not only the core element of Peak Cottage Plants' web site, but is now also being used by the client as a tool to manage her stock levels, create labels, identify popular and best-selling plants, create wish-lists and also to assist with her design and planting plans.

Site architecture

With the inclusion of the plants database, the web site suddenly became much more than just a list. It is now not only a marketing tool but a comprehensive searchable directory. Instead of the web site launching with only a small number of static pages, it initially went live with around 270 genuine, search-engine indexable, pages, and is expected to continue to grow dynamically.
