Software development briefProject overview:Motor-traders wishing to advertise vehicles for sale or source new stock can do so by subscribing to NTN’s trade-only services. This takes the form of a fax containing "for sale" and "wanted" advertisements that is sent daily to approximately 6000 subscribers. |

Project description:Central to NTN's business operations is a SQL database, accessed through a Windows® client application. The primary function of the client is to allow advertisements to be booked ready for faxing – so the user interface was designed to make this as quick and simple a task as possible. Built into the client are many additional features such as customer management tools (CRM), a vehicle make/model database and tools to manage the fax distribution lists. At the end of each day a separate application is used to extract advertisement information from the database and automatically generate the fax of advertisements. The fax document is generated by automating Microsoft® Word® from Visual Basic. This approach generates a document in a format that NTN could edit if needs be prior to faxing. Once authorised, a distribution list is built and the document is submitted to a faxing queue. At this point, billing information is generated, that can later be exported into a Sage® accounting package. Core Skills:
